A pilgrimage to Kumano is a journey into Japanese spiritual origin, Nature worship for sustainable life, Buddhism prayers for peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the world under the influence of covid-19 and invasion of Ukraine, the value of the countryside like Kumano is re-evaluated. Kumano has beautiful mountains, rivers, waterfalls, rocks, and forests which are worshipped as “Kami” (Dieties in Japan).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Guesthouse Sora Chikatsuyu<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Chikatsuyu is the first or second night’s lodging from the start point of the Kumanokodo Nakahechi route. We were attracted by the beauty of the nature and the warmth of the people in Kumano, and moved to Chikatsuyu 5 years ago. We serve our guests Japanese meals made from fresh local ingredients . We talk about the culture and history of Kumano and the joy of Kumanokodo pilgrimage. We hope our guests to enjoy talking with us and other guests, rest well in our quiet home and then start the long walk to Kumano Hong Grand Shrine the next morning.<\/p>\n\n\n

We stayed here in the end of April and had one of the most lovely stays during our Kumano Kodo hike. The couple hosting their house are very friendly and welcoming. They shared lovely stories with us at dinner, cooked delicious authentic food and let us stay in their rooms where we could sleep on traditional futon beds and wear Kimonos to Dinner. They even arranged a vegan meal for one of us.\nWe can only recommend visiting them and getting a true authentic and unique look in the Japanese culture and life.<\/div> <\/span> <\/div> <\/div>

Hosts Naomi and Kasu offer outstanding hospitality! Their home is very comfortable and they make you even more comfortable with their warmth and guidance on your Kumano journey. They helped us navigate our route, plan for unexpected weather changes and even drove us to our bus stop. We enjoyed their company and conversation over the delicious dinner they prepared as well as their extensive book collection on everything Japan! High recommend!<\/div> <\/span> <\/div> <\/div>

We stayed here for a night when we hiked the Kumano Kodo. The place was quiet and food was great!! The owners were very kind and hospitable. They sat down with us for dinner and shared some stories and laughs. The owner helped us on how to proceed for our hike the next day. Before we leave the next morning, they gave us a small postcard souvenir which was so cute. I highly recommend this guesthouse!<\/div> <\/span> <\/div> <\/div>

Naomi San and Yasu San are very heart warming and welcoming! The stay was the highlight of my Kumano Kodo trip. Naomi San is very knowledgeable about everything of the Kumano kodo. She even helped with my upcoming day\u2019s planing. And Yasu San has a great taste on music and books. Love the atmosphere. And they have done the Dual Pilgrim themselves too! Can\u2019t say enough about how good they are!<\/div> <\/span> <\/div> <\/div>

We had a wonderful stay at this guest house in Japan. The owners were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything we needed. We recently stayed in this place. Lovely hosts and couple. We love the food they prepared. Naomi-san even gave us a guide on our next leg of the Kumano Kodo. I will definitely book their place again when I hike the Kumano solo next year.<\/div> <\/span> <\/div> <\/div> <\/div>
